December 2021 — GLOBO, a leading provider of technology and services in the language industry, has announced the hiring of Patrick Daly as Controller on the organization’s Finance team. Daly joins the language solutions provider with nearly 20 years of experience.
“Upon first meeting, it was clear Patrick shared our vision for the future and was someone who would amplify our values as a company,” says Dipak Patel, President and Chief Operating Officer at GLOBO. “We could not be more excited to welcome him to the team here at GLOBO.”
Daly double majored in accounting and psychology (stating, “accounting is the backbone of all business, but the most important asset any business has is its people”). Following a three-year accounting internship with Chanel, Daly began his career at Deloitte, where he spent eight years working with Merrill Lynch & Co. He credits his time at Deloitte for providing him with mentorship that would inevitably push him the direction of his focus as a leader. Daly also formerly served as the organization’s President of their Diversity and Inclusion chapter; he says this experience of “owning who you are” had a significant impact on his management style.
Following his time at Deloitte, Daly moved on to RSM (formerly McGladrey), a mid-size firm where he could play a more significant role on accounts.
“My time at RSM not only opened me up to new industries—private equity, commercial—it also broadened my scope of working with different types of businesses and personalities,” Daly says. “I started to get more involved with career advising, as well as business development.” In 2013, Daly was awarded Career Advisor of the Year for the organization’s Northeast region.
Like many others, the COVID-19 pandemic led Daly to take a step back and assess his plans for the future. Looking for something “purposeful,” Daly was drawn to GLOBO’s high-level mission and flexible work environment, his sights set on bringing “more than just my technical accounting abilities” to the table. In addition to providing his accounting and auditing perspective, he looks forward to tapping into more opportunities for organic growth, such as business development and employee training, as well as diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
“Part of what drew me to GLOBO is the opportunity to have vision without limitation,” he says. “The culture here is one that encourages employees to be a voice of change. If someone is excited to exercise a talent, they’re given the opportunity—even if it’s not in their role.”
When he isn’t logged in to work, he enjoys activities like running and yoga—“anything that helps me take a step back and see the bigger picture.”
