We're lucky to have such incredible, talented women across departments. In honor of International Women's Day, we're excited to have them share their inspirations, achievements, and pieces of advice:
Katelyn O'Brien
Chief of Staff
Who is a woman that inspires you?
The woman that inspires me is my mom, also known as Lola, in the family. She is my inspiration because she has taught me to be strong, especially in tough times. Life is never going to be easy or go the way you have thought or planned. To be patient, be strong, and be kind to others. My mom is one of the strongest people I know, and I hope to have the strength that she has one day.
What achievement are you most proud of?
My most proud accomplishment is completing the Philadelphia Rock n Roll Half Marathon. That race was one of the toughest races I have done, not only physically but mentally.
What piece of advice would you give to other women looking to grow professionally?
The advice I would give is to trust your instincts. Be open-minded and take advice from others while still relying on your gut to make the right decision.

My mom! My mom gets stuff done. She's had a long career as an extremely talented technical project and program manager. She has a knack for understanding people both personally and professionally and helping them to get unstuck. She's an excellent listener, super goal-driven, and the most fun to be around (she's an especially fun reality-show-binging partner). I'm beyond grateful for the example she set for me.
What achievement are you most proud of?
I am most proud of spearheading GLOBO's internal monthly Brainstorming & Feedback ritual. Watching that program grow and serving our team with an outlet for creative, collaborative problem solving is hugely gratifying to me.
What piece of advice would you give to other women looking to grow professionally?
The best piece of advice I've ever received that I pass on every chance I get is to do what makes sense. It's so simple, it seems silly, but giving yourself permission to take action even if a process doesn't exist, consensus can't be reached, or it's unclear what "should" happen is freeing and opens up professional doors. If there's no clear next step, feel empowered to use your judgement, gather the information you need, and then do the next right thing.

I am excited to start reading "That Sounds Fun" by Annie F. Downs! "That Sounds Fun" explores why pursuing fun is important (not silly or shallow at all).

Be assertive and advocate for yourself. Be curious and a lifelong learner and you will be able to provide value in your profession in different ways.

The person I admire most is my Mom. She was known for her grace, dignity and compassion. She was someone who always made people feel comfortable and respected. Also, she always carried herself with poise and graciousness.
What achievement are you most proud of?
Driving from a business meeting in Alabama that ran late to Atlanta, Georgia to make my flight home with literally 2 minutes to spare. Thankfully I did because, unknown to me, my now husband had been planning on proposing that night and I got home in time.
What piece of advice would you give to other women looking to grow professionally?
Don't worry about making mistakes. Women often try to be perfectionists, but no one is perfect and that is ok. Just learn from the mistake and move on.

What piece of advice would you give to other women looking to grow professionally?
1. Be your authentic self. I see a lot of advice that are pushing women (and men!) to be someone that they're not to fit in with an ideal of who you're "supposed" to be or what you're "supposed" to be doing. Do the work to determine who you are and what you want, and go for it, unapologetically.
2. Find a strong support system. Whether it's your partner, your family, your friends, your supervisor, your work friends -- make sure the people around you want to see you succeed and encourage you along the way.
What are you currently reading or watching?
I am SO boring and watch very little TV, and unfortunately read even less (even though I love reading). I love listening to music though and usually have it on all day. I use both Apple Music and Spotify. My top playlists on Spotify are "my life is a movie," "Afternoon Acoustic," "Kitchen Swagger," and anything in the "Feel Good" category on Apple Music.
